I was working on the proof of one of my poems all the morning, and took out a comma. In the afternoon I put it back again.

I’m a software engineer with a background in ecommerce, a passion for hypertext, and an obsession with æsthetics. I like to play with, write about, and contribute to free software in an effort to enrich the commons. Feel free to contact me. I enjoy receiving email.

Apache Software Foundation

I’m a developer of Apache CouchDB, a free software, distributed, fault-tolerant and schema-free document-oriented database designed for extreme scalability. CouchDB provides a simple HTTP JSON API, powerful MapReduce queries and incremental, bidirectional replication with conflict detection and resolution.

Debian GNU/Linux

I use and contribute to Debian, one of the world’s most successful free software operating systems. I maintain several packages as a member of the Python Modules, Python Applications, and Erlang teams.

O'Reilly Media

I’m currently writing Relax with CouchDB, a technical book showcasing CouchDB’s key features. The book starts with simple document CRUD, working through to advanced MapReduce, and culminates with deployment tuning for performance and reliability.

Free Software Foundation

I’m an associate member and grassroots supporter of the FSF, a non-profit organisation that supports and promotes free software development.
